The climbing championship of British Universities and Colleges Sport 2011 was held on March 19 in Sheffield's 'The Works'...
After getting the 10am (delayed) train from St Pancras to Sheffield, the King's climbing teams arrived ready for the afternoon session, cranking out the routes at The Works! The climbing got underway at 2.30pm, and all the competitors had 2½ hours to tick off 25 routes. Points were awarded for how many goes it took; first go = 10 points, second = 7, third = 4. On all problems there was a bonus hold around half way, which if held scored 1 point.
Massive thank you to our four judges: Brandon Mitchell, Emily Ward, Jenna Byers and Alastair Heggie; without them we couldn't have competed!
