About London University Bouldering Event (LUBE)

LUBE is a new student bouldering competition that started in 2010, with every round held at a different London climbing venue.

WHO: University teams from around the UK are eligible to enter. We ask that each University bring no more than 2 teams of 3 climbers each (at least 1 female) and no more than 2 individuals.

ROUNDS: 3 November@The Westway, 1 December@Mile End, 26 January@The Biscuit, 2 March@Craggy 2.

PRIZES: The overall winning university will receive the LUBE V12 Award, a custom made award hailing from the valleys of Snowdonia. This will be awarded at all future LUBE competitions as the top award. Along the way prizes will be given to top competitors, ranging from clothing and chalk bags to climbing shoes and fingerboards.

PAYMENT: The cost for entering LUBE 2013 is £200. This is the cost for one university to participate, and each university can bring a maximum of 2 teams plus 2 individuals (ie 8 people).

TRAIN: The nearest train stations are Carshalton BeechesBelmont and Woodmansterne.

BUSES: The S4 bus route (Rose Hill, Sutton, Belmont, Carshalton, Roundshaw) briefly runs along Woodmansterne Road close to the centre.

CAR: Craggy Island Sutton is only 7 miles from J8 of the M25 and only 2.5 miles from the centre of Sutton.

From the South we are just off the A2022 Banstead to Purley road. At the double mini roundabout on the A2022 turn North onto the B278 Woodmansterne Road heading in the direction of Carshalton. We are a little way up on the left at The Oaks Sports Centre and golf course. Turn left into the centre and Craggy Island is the building to the left of the golf clubhouse.

From the North we are off the A323 Sutton to Croydon road at Carshalton. Take the B278 South, past Carshalton Beeches train station on your left and lookout for The Oaks Sports Centre and golf course sign posted on your right. Turn right into the centre and Craggy Island is the building to the left of the golf clubhouse.
