President - Mr Martin Davies |
Gear Secretary - Mr Hannes Granberg |

MARTIN – PresidentMartin, otherwise known as Dave or Birkett (for reasons not to be disclosed), hails from the Lake District, the birthplace of modern rock climbing. After 2 years experience on the committee and numerous inappropriate encounters with a certain Mr OCD Lister, the populus voted Dave into the role of President. Strong scores in BUCS and LUBE over the years, a healthy tradding knowledge and wealth of climbing experience mean Dave is well placed to lead the club onto further achievements. A royalist, musician and bringer of a tyrannical presidential regime, Dave is entering 3rd year Medicine in September. |
JOE – Vice PresidentAs a mature student Joe represents the older, wiser, more sensible side of the club... ahem. Known for his hog roasts and penchant for kick boxing, he can always be relied upon to liven up our trips. Joe is no stranger to the club committee, and held the post of Gear Secretary last year after revealing an unhealthy fondness for shiny things. A solid climber, Joe is also well travelled and enjoys power. Indeed, he was voted in as vice-president due to his insatiable "thirst for power". In other news, Joe is currently studying Physiotherapy. |

CHIDGE – TreasurerChidge, real name James Chidgey, has a passion for university. So much so that he is about to embark on the 7th of 9 years at King's. As the consummate professional, Chidge fulfilled the role of Treasurer with such aplomb last year that he was rewarded with the same role in the new committee. A keen fell walker and alpinist, Chidge can often be found venturing to the Lake District for a long weekend or off to Switzerland for a spot of mountaineering. In September Chidge will start the clinical phase of Medicine, after completing a BSc and PhD - thus on the path to becoming a Double-Dr! |
SAM – Team CaptainSam is a new face on the committee this year, having just finished his first year at King's. An extremely motivated climber, Sam can often be found training at the Arch or Mile End and is expected to be a key member of our competition squad in the coming year. Indeed, as Competition Secretary Sam will be expected to organise training sessions and co-ordinate our climbing teams for the various competitions King's enters each year. If you are interested in competing then he is the man to talk to. Also, LUBE 2012 is in his competent hands, a national student climbing competition that KCLMC set up in 2010. When not bouldering in London, Sam enjoys trips away to Portland, and inbetween all this he is studying Physiotherapy. |

JUSTIN – SecretaryAn epiphany last year (discovering the existence of KCLMC) transformed Justin into one of the most active climbers in our club. A naturally talented climber, Justin has shown great flair for competition climbing with a fantastic debut performance at BUCS. As Secretary for the coming year, Justin will take charge of the club email accounts and organise all the paper work for our trips - a crucial job! The extraordinary claim to "never have lost a piece of paper" could be tested, and any late arrivals to our committee meetings will result in cries of derision after claiming to have "atomically timed clocks". Jutsin is often the recipient of many spelling mistakes, so make sure you type his surname Kua to keep him happy! Or is it Kau? In either case, Justin is currently studying Medicine. |
HANNES – Gear SecReturning to the committee after a years absence, Hannes will take up the office of Gear Secretary. Anyone acquainted with Hannes will agree that he is the perfect man for the job, as an enjoyment of perusing gear catalogues and organising his rather shiny rack by colour, size and weight will be of invaluable use to the club. When out climbing Hannes has an affinity for remote expeditions, and is flying out to Kyrgyzstan this summer to bag some significant un-climbed mountains. In the UK, he has a certain predilection for North Wales trad climbing in adverse weather conditions. Think torrential rain, hail and gusting winds and you get the idea. When drying off following such escapades Hannes returns to studying Medicine. |

CAT - Trip Sec
Cat is new to the committee, and is taking on the substantial role of Trip Secretary. Always quick to get involved in everything going on, Cat ventured to Portland over the Christmas break, although I don't think anyone told her it would be freezing cold! El Chorro in Spain for the Easter trip was a bit warmer, and a proficiency in Spanish resulted in her taking a key role in the organisation of this trip. As Trip Secretary, Cat will be the person to speak to about bagging a place on our trips, and it's always a good idea to keep her on side as she's one of the few people in the club to own a car! Cat is studying Nutrition and Dietetics.
|
NICOLE – Hill Walking SecNicole is another of the new faces on this year's committee. A passion for the hills from an early age saw Nicole complete her Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award, although I've yet to see a photo of her with Phil... As Hill Walking Secretary, Nicole will be organising the hiking days on our trips and also running a Scottish winter walking tour. Always keen to get involved, Nicole came on our Freshers trip last year and also participated in our Malaika Kids charity fundraising climbing session at the Castle. When not out in the hills, Nicole is studying Medicine. |

SAM – Publicity Sec
Known principally for 'the red morph suit', Sam has garnered a reputation as a hard partying member of KCLMC. These escapades could quite possibly scar for life any climbers unfortunate enough to witness them, and it was perhaps with this in mind that Sam was elected as Publicity Secretary on this years committee; a safer option for all concerned. This was despite a 'longing to be M*rt*n's bitch', a request turned down (regrettably) by the electorate. Sam is a keen boulderer and has represented King's in many competitions, however he is equally at home when trad climbing in Wales. Sam will start his 3rd year of Medicine in September.
|
ROSIE – Social SecIf you ever get invited to a party by Ms Spragg be sure to accept, as the reward will come in the form of delicious home baked goodies! Indeed it was the promise of committee meeting cakes that swayed the electorate into appointing Rosie as Social Secretary for the coming year. Rosie can always be relied upon to make new climbers feel welcome, and will be organising many of our social events this year. A keen boulderer, Rosie can often be found at The Arch, training for the numerous competitions that King's enters each year. When not climbing or baking, Rosie is studying Biochemistry. |
